On March 20th, the kick-off of the FEM-START GROWTH Training took place—an energetic and inspiring day filled with insights, opportunities, and connections for female entrepreneurs. In collaboration with StartupAmsterdam and Rabobank Amsterdam, the event focused on growth, funding, and expanding professional networks.

The afternoon began with an opening speech by Alderman Sofyan Mbarki, who emphasized the importance of entrepreneurship and funding opportunities for female entrepreneurs in Amsterdam.

🔹 Erik Versnel, Director of Cooperative Rabobank Amsterdam
Erik Versnel spoke about the significance of female entrepreneurs in the economy and how Rabobank supports them through initiatives like the Patta Academy and ORAM. He ended his presentation with a quote that resonated with everyone: “Go get them!”
🔹 Lydi Siebers, Managing Director of Goede Doelen Loterijen
Lydi Siebers provided insights into how Goede Doelen Loterijen to a greener, fairer world, promoting human well-being and health.
🔹 Anne Boermans, Founder of Zeefier
Anne Boermans inspired participants with the story of Zeefier, an innovative Dutch start-up producing 100% natural textile dyes made from seaweed. She highlighted the vital role of networking in entrepreneurship.
🔹 Marian Spier, Founder of FEM-START – On a Mission with FEM-START
Marian Spier shared FEM-START’s mission and how this training supports entrepreneurs in their growth journey. While the Netherlands has 800,000 female entrepreneurs, only 10% receive funding. FEM-START aims to increase this percentage through educational programs like the GROWTH Training.
🔹 Milouda Boussatta, Founder of Sweet Flavour
Milouda Boussatta shared her entrepreneurial journey and the challenges she faced. After working with children for 17 years, she made a career switch to become a barista at events, creating delicious treats. A year ago, she hesitated to take the microphone—this time, she confidently pitched in front of over 75 people.
🔹 Vos Vorstermans, Impact Investment Manager at DOEN Participaties
Vos Vorstermans discussed how DOEN Participaties supports innovative and impactful initiatives with grants, loans, and investments to build a greener, more social, and creative society.
🔹 Lovia Opoku, Founder of Reform Stigma
Lovia Opoku delivered an inspiring talk about her entrepreneurial journey with Reform Stigma, an organization committed to empowering communities and reducing stigmas through creative and inclusive projects.
Unlocking AI’s Potential for Entrepreneurs
The afternoon concluded with an interactive AI Workshop on Pitching, led by Vijay Kumar. Participants explored how AI can enhance their businesses, from improving pitches to crafting well-structured emails. The session revealed endless possibilities, even as AI technology continues to evolve.
